The Local Staff Committee The Hague (LSCTH) constitutive meeting took place yesterday, the 4th of July, to elect indirectly the local chair, vice-chair, secretary of the LSCTH, as well as the four full and four alternate members of the Central Staff Committee (CSC).

Two of our list members were candidates for the posts of LSCTH Chair and full member of the CSC. In both voting procedures they achieved an honourable total number of 3 votes from the 16 committee members votes. These 3 votes stemming from The Heart of the Staff Rep (TH-SR) list. Consequently, none of our list members have been elected to any of the posts.

The TH-SR congratulates all the elected and wishes the best of luck in their new roles.

The final results (see below) show an hegemonic internal vote selection favoring monoculture practices.

We know – based on the general election results - that you expected a different composition, the introduction of polyculture and implementation of better practices.

Notwithstanding the outcome of the constitutive meeting we will keep preconizing these best practices when and where we have a stage. TH-SR will keep working with the LSCTH and CSC bodies to the extent we are allowed to participate in the LSCTH environment.

Be assured that TH-SR heard your wish for a change and that we will take your voice further. We will fulfil our mandate and your expectations, with the resources we possess and the ones we will invent.

Outcome of the LSCTH constitutive meeting

Respecting the will of the electorate

Tomorrow, Tuesday 4 July, the selection for the posts within the Local Staff Committee The Hague (LSCTH) will take place through a process of internal voting among the elected staff representatives.

With your votes you gave us – the candidates of The Heart of Staff Rep (TH-SR) - a strong mandate which we are thankfully accepting und committed to fulfil.

In The Hague there are 5 positions within Staff Representation with more representativity (4 CSC full member positions and 1 Local Chair). According to the staff election results, we are ranked in the top 5 and therefore expect to take at least 2 posts corresponding to the representativity of the electoral results.

As it is in the interest of staff to have a diverse staff representation, we expect that all elected candidates will commit to a fair and diverse distribution of the posts, along with the respect for the strong voice of staff.

With six years’ experience in Staff Representation, each of our elected candidate has her/his areas competences, for example in:

- Finances,

- Career System,

- Health and Well-Being,

- Service Regulations,

- New Ways of Working,

and we wish to work together within the Staff Representation towards the best interest of staff.

We are counting with the respect for your vote and reiterate our will to represent you in the positions and areas you have elected us for.

Updates will follow!

The Heart of Staff Rep (TH-SR) thanks all candidates for participating in this election and sends congratulations to all the elected ones.

We also want to thank everyone who voted for us! Your vote means a lot—not just for us, but for the entire staff at the Office.

There is the hope that seeing how much support we received will encourage more people to run their own independent campaigns in future elections.

An important aspect of these elections is the high participation rate (69%), which shows increased staff involvement. It demonstrates  that TH-SR proposals and campaign has aroused the interest of staff in staff rep elections thereby contributing to a high participation of staff. It also indicates that the list TH-SR gave voice to staff that didn't feel represented before, resulting in a broader and more diverse representation.

The high participation rate alone, would be enough reason to celebrate the achievement of TH-SR list, but we also managed to elect most of our candidates.

There were many challenges along the way—we had no support by a union and faced several obstacles. In spite of that, we elected three candidates to the Staff Representation, two in the highest ranking! The electorate gave us a strong mandate to take positions of responsibility within the Staff Representation. We can only be thankful to all of you who voted for us!

Keep supporting The Heart of Staff Rep and stay tuned!

Congratulations

Proposal to the next Staff Representation Committee

Exercising transparency and accountability, by

  • Registering individual contributions of staff representatives,

  • Registering directions of vote of staff representatives,

  • Regularly publishing the above data to inform staff.

How we help Staff in The Hague

We want to shape a better future for all staff members.

We work in an effective way and concentrate on the needs of staff without instrumentalizing the staff representation for political games.

Restoring the Social Dialogue with the current administration so that via a constructive approach we can successfully defend our interests.

Take Action and Vote

The staff representation election is an opportunity for each of us to shape the direction of our workplace.
